About that Lisbon referendum, Mr Cameron?

What's the point of selling us the idea of a Lisbon referendum when you're planning to take us into the Euro?

Hat tip to Mark Wadsworth.

Ta. I just can't believe that he said that openly. This can't possibly be official Tory policy - the question is, is it unofficial Tory policy?

Just wait until the pound is nearer the value of a Euro. Hey presto, we qualify!

If the Tories were to do something quite that stupid, and I seriously doubt they would (You can hardly accept the word of an MEP about anything!) - then I think it would truly be time for the last scene from V for Vendetta.

The Tory leaders are Statist, so why the surprise?

The more their mask slips, the easier it will be for us to attack them.

At some point there might be a convulsion within the party, but do not hold your breath, for they might well be having their Blair moment and just support whomsoever and whatever policies are needed to "get back into power". That is their aim. The Country comes a long long long way second.
