The jobs of George Meehan, the leader of the town hall, and Liz Santry, its cabinet member for children and young people, are at risk along with that of Sharon Shoesmith, who has faced several calls to quit as director of children's services since the tragedy came to light last month.


Fair enough, you might think.

Last week, the pair survived a call for a vote of no confidence after it was blocked by the majority Labour group in Haringey.


Ah, the delights of tribal politics.
