Says it all, really

I was saying that I expect a lot of redundancies in early 2009 and Bill d'Sarse said:

What's the betting that none of them receive a bail-out cheque from Mandy. Unemployment figures spread across the country will not have the same effect on local voting as say, erm, a large car maker?

And you know, I'd already had that thought. And I bet everyone who's been paying the slightest bit of attention has already had that thought as well.

It must be all those corrosively cynical right-wing bloggers, the bastards.

We're not just corrosive - we're viciously nihilist!

Yes, strange that 27000 people get the bullet at Woolies, and not a peep from GB & The Dark Lord, less than that are threatened with job losses at Jaguar/LR and we suddenly are back to the 1970s and 'picking winners' again. Even odder given that according to the govts own 'green' agenda they should be pleased such polluting vehicles are no longer selling. After all they've done their best to tax them off the road for the last 10 years with higher road and petrol taxes.

Judging by the rate of underwear decay, I probably am corrosive. Although I wouldn't call myself right-wing because I don't know what it means.

It does seem odd though. If the Gorgon expects us to spend that extra penny from his VAT cut, surely Woolworth's would be a more likely venue than a car showroom?

As Sobers said, surely the government don't want us to have cars anyway - the way they penalise drivers at every turn certainly suggests that.

I think Aldi and Lidl and the rest will be booming soon. There's a new one due to open in town here, and this is a small town. Some of the shops here have prices that would make your eyes bleed, and there's a Lidl opening?

The tweed set won't like that.
