A correspondent for this blog has been investigating the odds that Gordon Brown will fail to hold an election before June 2010.
That is, that he will suspend democracy.
The original thinking was that at 100 to one or something it would make an interesting little bet.
Paddy Power is offering 1:3.

So how could this Government suspend democracy? It’s easy enough really, create a threat to the UK that is so great the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 is brought into play which makes provision for the Government of the day to do well, just about anything. This act contains the law allowing for emergency regulations with significant threats to the UK in particular, emergency regulations may make any provision which the person making the regulations is satisfied is appropriate for the purpose of—
(a) protecting human life, health or safety,
(b) treating human illness or injury,
(c) protecting or restoring property,
(d) protecting or restoring a supply of money, food, water, energy or fuel,
(e) protecting or restoring a system of communication,
(f) protecting or restoring facilities for transport,
(g) protecting or restoring the provision of services relating to health,
(h) protecting or restoring the activities of banks or other financial institutions,
(i) preventing, containing or reducing the contamination of land, water or air,
(j) preventing, reducing or mitigating the effects of disruption or destruction of plant life or animal life,
(k) protecting or restoring activities of Parliament, of the Scottish Parliament, of the Northern Ireland Assembly or of the National Assembly for Wales, or
(l) protecting or restoring the performance of public functions.
Plenty of scope there for St Gordon of the Manse to delay/postpone/rule out altogether elections for some time to come.
Hopefully by that time the one eyed cunt will be swinging from a lamp post.
It's a possibility that has come to mind. I almost hope they try it, the result would be a revolt against this gastly shower of shits.
If there is a disturbance in the flow of money they can impose a state of emergency
I wonder if (when) the failure of a gilts sale will bring things to a head.
If you hear gilts sale failure on the news prepare for the worst and activate your plan.
I would take to the streets!, I'm pretty sure the Armed forces would step aside then we could string snotty up and put her madge back in charge for a while.
I know where my local(lab) MP lives I would go there first.
I am confident that the armed forces would support the people but I have no doubt that most police officers (many now armed - and beyond the reach of the law) and all PCSOs would do as they are told by HMG.
Don't forget that HM signed all this into law and remember that HM cannot, therefore, be called upon to suspend HMG when it suspends what we have been taught to believe is 'democracy', as I believe it will.
That we are discussing such things shows how perilous our position is. Should a civil war break out, the question all Englishmen must ask themselves is: 'Will we be fighting Americans or Europeans?' My opinion is that the Yanks are less likely to want to kill us as we fight for our liberty than our fellow Europeans so we must hope that those who are trying to control the Tartan Snot Gobbler opt for American support when the shit hits the fan, otherwise things may become awkward, unless, of course, soldiers in the various European armies decide to follow the English example.

When Brown suspends democracy in England the 'union' is buried (it is already dead) and the monarch finally deposed.
Given that the other lot are pretty much indistinguishable, what difference would it make?
Especially when you remember that 90% of our laws, rules, regulations, and general hassle, comes from the EU which is appointed, not elected, and effectively a one-party state.
