How law is made, part 94

Yesterday I was unable to cross examine the Secretary of State who announced the policy towards the motor industry, as he was in the Lords. More importantly, I was unable to cross examine the architects of the policy, as they were in Brussels.

I sympathise with the Europe grumble. But as for the Trade secretary being in the Lords: surely the Tories set the precedent with that one back in the 80's when Lady Thatcher appointed Lord Young to the same (or similar) job. Maybe Redwood didn't agree with that decision at the time - I don't recall ...
