James Hansen is one of the world's most active MMGW alarmists. He personally controls the GISS data set, which is, oddly enough, the one that shows the greatest amount of global warming, often when other sets show no warming or even cooling. Via Bishop Hill, this bit of speculative statistical analysis:

Global climate is a death-defyingly complicated problem. Science does not yet deal well with complicated problems. Hard ones - yes. String Theory, Quantum Mechanics and all that jazz but it's when shit gets complicated the problems arise.
I quite frankly don't believe we have the tools to answer the questions here. Why we are asking them is of course another issue...
I shall leave you to speculate on why I think the question has been raised. Hint: it suits the green agenda to raise a Word of Damocles which is pretty much unfalsifiable. Not the shift a couple of years back from a focus on "global warming" to "climate chaos".
