Aussie fires

Sounds like they're definitely keeping the Ashes this year.

That is not at all funny. I've got friends out in Oz who are in danger from these fires.

Grow up you sad bastard!

I'm always astonished at how people are quick to assume the worst of me. It wasn't intended as a humorous observation, just an observation.

What makes you think I haven't got friends and family out there? In fact, what makes you think I haven't ALREADY lost someone I know out there?

Personally I can't get too bent out of shape over a little dark humour when the fires are still burning. Probably aren't going to come our way, but nothing's guaranteed. More because I'll passed through bush fire damaged areas before and it's pretty shocking the damage that can be done. Personally I thought the Ashes gag (remark, comment, observation, whatever) was a bit lame but it really seems pretty fucking unimportant to get worked up about it. I'm far more offended that some of these fires are started deliberately by people so thoroughly cunty it makes a fortnight's unpaid hiloday spent with Kevin Rudd and Gordon Brown seem like a good time.

I laughed. But then I'm a sicko.

No one was assuming the worst of you. Even if it was an observation, which I doubt, then it's remarkably stupid.
If you have got friends/relations out there or perhaps you have lost someone then it makes your 'observation' even more stupid.
Stop trying to defend the indefensible and just own up to having made a twattish comment.

Whatever. If you're that offended, you can help yourself to a full refund on your way out.

Meanwhile, I haven't heard back from anyone I know in Oz.

Keep them?

They'll have trouble finding them!

If it makes you feel any better (or worse), Obo, I'm an Aussie and I sent an SMS to a mate last night: "We've cracked the ton!"

Both my brother and BIL were involved in fire control over the weekend. If you are brought up there, you'll have had more bushfires than decent fucks.

It's the same as chuckling over Jap or British tourists drowning ('Ay! Mate! It's a red bloody flag!) or drunken Abos and over-curious tourists getting taken by salties. It happens.

Perhaps this time, people will spend a little more time on preparing for an emergency and not dithering. You either piss off immediately or you don't. The bit in the middle is when you die.

None of these utterances would, or should be made in front of people who might take offence, for example, at a reception at the Australian High Commission or as a complete stranger in the public bar of the Wangaratta Hotel.

However, I'd like to think that anyone in here has already wiped his bum with Princess Diana's condolence book.

Not Aussie Pete

BTW the bushfires have already been used as a soapbox for GW: http://australianclimatemadness.blogspot.com/
by a poofter, no less!

This post is in poor taste, considering. I think you need to do penance Mr O Clown. Six laps round the block with the mop and bucket.

GROAN!!

My rels live in Melbourn and Sydney.

However, it is said some of these fires were set deliberately. What mentality would cause someone to set a fire like this during a frigging heat wave?

Obo you're a very bad man. I sentence you to a soapy tit wank from Jacqui Spliff. That'll teach you the error of your ways.

No fucking choice now.

From Sickipedia, you are not alone on the joking.

I found sadness rather than humour when I read the news.

Makes you wonder. And the above link was posted last September.

I would normally now invite you to flame away, but that seems a tad inappropriate....

Followed by a three-in-a-bed session with Clare Short and Ann Widdecombe. Not to be allowed to leave until both ladies pronounce themselves satisfied.

Quite. I tittered in that half-shocked, half-amused way that is usual in such cases, anyway.
