Won't somebody think of the ... errrr ...

Dude, seriously, this cuntry is completely and utterly fucked in the head:

The number of schoolchildren who visit pensioners to keep them company in old age looks set to fall amid fears that both groups will have to be formally vetted for safety reasons.

It's too early in the morning for me to even begin to understand how fucked up this whole thing is. Whatever happened to just doing a good deed? Are these kids left unsupervised for hours on end with 90-year-old "perverts"? Are the kids signing up for this shit, not out of the goodness of their hearts, but because it's an easy way of finding an old fogey to brutalize?

Jesus, how fucking stupid have we become?

Is there no fucker in Parliament or the Home Office or whatever who is going to stand up and say, "Hang on a minute, this is stupid"?

No, I guess there isn't.

Twats instilling fear and paranoia as that's generally how they live their own lives.....

Out their peep hole all they see are hoodies and perverts...they should try living in the communities they profess to understand so well....

They may stop being so terrified of it....

No Dippy seriously you should say more....whats that form of abuse got to do with kids looking out for the elderly?

And I worked in social services for sixteen years....not every child born gets abused....quite a few grow up....dare I say it 'normally'...

A pretty sad reflection of modern Britain and something that isn't going to change in the foreseeable future, and I'm talking several generations.

Unfortunately this perception of all adults as potential abusers and all kids as potential victims has more or less 100% dominance and woe betide anyone who dares to suggest it's all just going a bit too far. You can try if you want but it'll be like trying to light up a fag in a hurricane.

Strange thing is it wasn't like this even 20 years ago and certainly not when I was a kid in the 70's. Our social attitudes have changed for the worse in many ways and there is no immediate answer or antidote to this sorry state of affairs.

However, a DCSF spokesman insisted it was unlikely that pupils would have to be checked. "Unless there were special circumstances, such as the elderly person being particularly vulnerable or if the volunteering included some form of caring on a frequent or intensive basis, these informal arrangements won't be covered by the vetting and barring scheme. No CRB check will therefore be needed.”

So, let me see if I've fully understood that cop out ... if it can be arranged that a different pupil visit each time, and that visits take place at random and not regular intervals, and the people visited aren't in any way deemed vulnerable, setting aside one supposes that they are probably very old, and certainly not disabled in any way, shape or form, as that might introduce a "form of caring" into the equation, and that it is determined that the person being visited poses no threat to their young visitor, nothing, apart from the present basis of the visits system, need change ... well I'm convinced ...

The Daily Wail claims that the ISA is already in 'meltdown' and can't cope with the huge number of requests.

They all know it's stupid, obo. Sadly, the nature of bureaucracy effectively makes free thinking, logic, and going against the tide public enemies numbers 1, 2, and 3. That's why no one in the system will say "This bites the big one".

The fact that it's "Vetting and Barring" not "Vetting and Approving" says it all, really.
