Bangski!

Oh dear!

Two blasts ripped through packed Moscow metro stations on Monday during rush hour, killing at least 34 people and wounding 18, Russian officials said.

Russian prosecutors said they suspected "terrorists" were responsible and they had opened an investigation.

No group immediately took responsibility for the blasts but suspicion is likely to fall on groups from Russia's North Caucasus, where Moscow is fighting a growing Islamist insurgency.

I wonder whether the Russians will be rushing to consult the Muslim Council of the USSR for how to deal with this.

Probably not.

Why do terrorists always get the blame, it's like when police blame "arsonists" for mysterious fires, why are they so quick to jump to conclusions?

Very good comment.

It isn't just terrorists that have belts full of explosives strapped to them in tube stations.

Some Brazilian Electricians have them as well.

Jump to conclusions. Hm.

Appalling as this crime was... I actually smiled when the Moscow authorities announced later that the trains were again running normally.

Could you see that happening here these days?

A minor shunt on one of our motorways and the bastards close down the thing for hours causing misery for thousands of travellers.*

Look at the daily crap we have to put up with just because the Al-Qa'ida Fashion House (New York-London-Madrid-Karachi) introduced a new range of non-exploding trainers, ruck sacks and Y'fronts - although their suicide vests have proven popular with Muslim youths.

So, once again, we have the Russians showing us how it should be done. Lets face it, we're just a nation of wimps now.

* Barely thirty years ago, you'd have had a very furious Transport Minister on the blower demanding to know why the police had closed down one of Her Majesty's Highways.

I note that the Russian Premier has stated that the group responsible "will be destroyed".
Good-Oh!
No messy trials etc, just "destroyed".
I like it.
