An anonymous cabinet minister writes

"I characterise most people as the 'worried well'. Of course they're worried when they read all about the problems with the banks, and they see there are issues with unemployment.

"However, there needs to be a more realistic outlook. Even if eight per cent of the population were out of work, there would be 92 per cent in work. There are large parts of the country that it won't affect massively.

"People will actually be better off this year in many ways. Of course, we do have to empathise with people and do our best for those who do actually lose their jobs, but at the moment the perception and reality of this recession are quite different."

Or: "I'm alright Jack!"

What a fucking knob jockey! 92% of the population still in work? That kind of assumes that 100% of the population work, which is farcical even for a fucking twat of a cabinet minister in this talent free government of mental pygmies.

Only about half of those employed are in the wealth generating sector. However busy, the rest are tax consumers. As productive employment falls, government jobs increase, creating more tax burdens and bureaucratic obstructions for those still gainfully employed. At what point does the overloaded camel collapse?

Seems to be blaming the media by implication. The same media that shamelessly talked them up 10 years ago.

Those that live by the media shall die by the media.

If this quote had come from soneone like Tebbit or Lawson or even Thatch during the eightitesr Labour would have crucified the totiers for being uncaring and complacent.
