Remember Hurricane Katrina?

Remember how the incompetent Bush was vilified for not making things happen? Well:

Dozens of deaths have been reported and many people are pleading for a faster response to the power outages. Some in rural Kentucky ran short of food and bottled water, and resorted to dipping buckets in a creek …

Local officials grew angrier at what they said was a lack of help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Oh, hello. It’s a Katrina moment for President Obama.

How come this guy gets such a free ride? Is it because he is (half) black? Or is it just because he isn't a shaved chimp? Do we not expect competence from the Prez?

(This wasn't very encouraging either.)

Richard Nixon had it about right. If you are the sort of person who is prepared to do the necessary to get elected President of the USA, you should not be allowed to run for office.

The only way any President is going to effect any real change is the Tom Clancy route of destroying all of Congress and the Senate. Preferably getting all the lobbyists at the same time.

It nearly caused an international diplomatic incident when this UK based pop group offered to do a benefit concert for New Orleans.

Worrying development, see Old Holborn's den of iniquity for details.

I'd say Obama will only last one term. He's already going down the wrong route with his multi-billion bail out. Effectively he's going to further bankrupt America and play his part in the collapse of the US dollar.

FEMA are as useful as the proverbial chocolate teapot.

But remember, Mr O did phone up the state governor to express solidarity with the people of Kentucky, from the thermostatically controlled nice environment of the oval office. Surely no-one expected him to be there in person did they?

Meanwhile the linesmen are freezing their wotsits off sorting out the power and local honchos are opening schools and public offices for the frozen to camp out in.
