I'm already hugely unpopular ...

... so I'll go ahead and say it. I was / am a huge fan of Michael Schumacher. I've no idea why, because I thought the last amoral, vicious, mercurial bastard to run in F1 (Senna) was a complete prick.

But I have to say, I thought Schuey timed his retirement from F1 to absolute perfection. He left his fans wanting more, he was at the top of his game, and after he left, well, let's face it, Fezza weren't quite the team they were (especially after Brawn buggered off!)

So I'm ambivalent about his potential return to F1. I'd love to see him win even more races than he already has, but I'm worried that he'll find the game has moved on and he's no longer a player. That would be a terrible way for his career to end.

But if he can pull off even one more win ... jeez ...

Agreed. Schumacher was brilliant. A cheat and a charlatan and a bully but still miles better than the rest.

Only he didn't bow at at the top of his game. In his last season he only did mediocrely, and then he packed it in.

Well, it has certainly livened up the season for me, although I agree that the catch up curve could prove difficult.

Shuey was so outta-the-park better than any other driver (Senna? Not so good - last time I looked, worms hadn't tasted no Schuey).

I'd bet a lot of cash on him taking the championship again in his return season, if he had a car of merit and a team with a set.

AJ

p.s. He's still a spoon-faced bockwurst munch cunt, but you can't deny genuine talent.

He'll get spanked...

I suspect the evil Bosch will humiliate some of the new pretenders. Ferrari are starting to get their act together and I would bet Schumacher has had plenty of practice in the current car. I reckon he will do very well.

Interesting comments and I'm trying hugely to give a fuck.

I liked him. I liked Senna too... I must just have a thing for arrogant, vicious, amoral mercurial bastards!

Obo, the juxtaposition of this post and the "Motorvation" picture immediately below it of a red car wrapped round a tree was most unfortunate......

I don't think this is a Mansellesque return to F1 where it's a planned move buggered up by not fitting in the car, followed by a delay, a couple of races, and another retirement. He's just doing his employers a favour because suddenly they're short a driver and for whatever reasons don't want to use Badoer or Gene. I don't rate his chances much because the car isn't that flash this year, and we've seen in the past that Schuey even at his peak was beatable in a better car. But so what? It'll be nice for the youngest drivers who never had the chance to race against him.

Senna left his fans wanting more, and was at the top of his game when he left F1.
His manner of departure was much more dramatic too.

And what a way to go. Just enough time to think, but not to say 'Oh, shit!'
