A constant reminder that life was so much better before the internet
I know someone who once had a job with DEFRA. She said it was brilliant. Somebody or other had commissioned a pilot feasibility study into some online portal that farmers were supposed to use for something or other, so they set up a new office, employed researchers, telephone interviewers, data inputters, IT people, a payroll lady, a PR guy, a bloke who made tea, a facilities maintenance liaison guy, a woman manager, a deputy overseer etc etc.She couldn't actually tell me what the actual study was into, and after nine months they all got a nice redundancy cheque and the office was shut down again.
I worked for DEFRA. That is, until my boss raped me. Then I went for the lower-paid train station cleaning job, and I've never looked back!
Excellent imagination. You should take up writing fiction. There's money in it, I believe.
