A professional politician speaks (for @tomharrismp )

Tom's played a blinder here:

If Clegg really wants to be a leader, he must at some point stop uttering the banal and populist platitudes so beloved of the PPFKATLD and get on with the job of leading. It would be absurd if he believed a particular law should be repealed but chose not to argue for that in Cabinet just because it hadn’t come top in a vote by the public. Similarly, if he wants to retain a law, make the case, don’t hide behind a superficial popularity vote.

Right, Tom. So what you're saying is that because you're elected, you can and should ignore the voice of the people? Because you're elected?

it's interesting how Tom was (just about) interesting, engaging and above all bearable when he was in power.

Now he's not, he's an insufferable Jock Cunt and not a lot more.

Straight out of the "Gordon Brown Manual of Politics" known among its loyal readers "as how to fuck over the electorate for years and years without taking a blind bit of notice of anything anyone said 'cos I saved the world and am therefore unassailable"

Sounds like he's right on message.

Maybe I'm not understanding, but aren't you in effect advocating government by focus group.

I prefer 'representative' democracy.
