*Applauds*

Via the legendary Leg-iron, this fantastic tale of someone doing something good:

When Will Pike tried to escape the terrorists in Mumbai by climbing out of his hotel window, he fell and broke his back - and therefore had to give up his tickets for the Eddie Izzard show. Will's father wrote to Mr. Izzard and asked him to send a note to his son to cheer him up.

Well, Mr. Izzard sent no note.

Do go read the whole thing and see why Eddie Izzard cheered up my New Year so greatly.

Thank you, Mr Izzard and well done!

I don't have much time for 'cross dressing comedians' such as Eddie Izzard but clearly the Mumbai victim did so congratulations to him for his performance.

I'm truly impressed by this; it fair "warms the cockles of the heart" to see a performance of this sort from someone with the level of fame and fortune of Mr Izzard.

A comedian that I already held in high-esteem has just become stratospheric, especially given that he's not bragging about it or using it to fuel his own publicity machine.

For those readers here not familiar with the work of Mr Izzard, I'd recommend the Death Star Canteen.

Doing his show at his bedside. What a great guy Eddie is.

I can't stand his brand of 'comedy', but fair do's to him, that was a classy gesture...

As others have said, he's a NuLabour supporter , which pisses me off greatly but I have to salute the guy for his actions.

Cato, he can afford to be a Noo Labour supporter as can the champagne socialist ministers we see strutting around like Balls, Blears, Harperson and that awful Jackboot woman. Unfortunately I can't afford it and would like a change in government PDQ. Even a Tory one would be preferable to this bunch of corrupt, lying bastards.
