Holy crap!
A giant rat with one-inch-long teeth has been caught in the southern Chinese province of Fujian.
The rat, which weighed six pounds and had a 12-inch tail, was caught at the weekend in a residential area of Fuzhou, a city of six million people on China's south coast.
Don't think I'll be going there for my hols. Especially after reading this bit:
Chinese bamboo rats are often sold for meat in Chinese markets.

I wondered if it was eaten. They have special famine food restaurants where you can eat such things as deep fried scorpions and animal(various) penis and Gawd knows what else.
They eat anything, look how happy the bloke holding it is - that's a big old family feast tonight.
The Penguin.
Rats in our country end up in the cabinet.
He looks vaguely familiar. I wonder whether we've met before.
I beat the Chinese in China. They served snake, roast dog (lovely, and I never tire of telling dog-owning neighbours how to cook it), boiled pig's stomach lining and more. As a veteran of roadkill cuisine, I scoffed it all.
Every one of their little faces crinkled in disgust when I ate a raw garlic clove. I win!
For an encore, I told them what was in haggis.
Never tried rat. Those little buggers are too fast.
It's not a rat, it's a Filigree Siberian Hamster. Only one in shop, special price, only £5....
