I used to believe that he believed the truth behind closed doors, but lied in public.
Now I'm not so sure, I really do now think he truly believes what he says. It's not like Blair who privately KNEW "45 minute" claims etc were complete bollocks, I think Brown really believes it. It's the only explanation for him repeating "in a wooden and perfunctory way" about us being well placed, when far more qualified people such as the IMF completely disagree with him.
