@tomharrismp - what a fucking hypocrite!

Oh yes, sanctimonious twat:

Let’s recap the important figures, shall we?

Number of people who voted after being given the chance to peruse the parties’ manifestos: 29,691,380.

Number of voters who voted after being given the chance to peruse the coalition agreement: 0.

So remind me why the colaition agreement is “more important” than the manifestos? Ah, yes, of course! The New Politics…

So, Tom, about that EU referendum the Labour Party promised in its election manifesto in 2005 ... ?

Sunday, 6 June 2010

And they're off!

I had been hoping against hope, I must confess. I really had. I was prepared to give them every chance, prepared to view every initiative without the immediate scorn that I'd pour on useless "New" Labour.

Alas, alas...

The Tories said:
"A Conservative government would "dismantle" central NHS IT infrastructure, halt and renegotiate NPfIT local service provider contracts and introduce interoperable local systems."

The Lib Dems said:
"The Government needs to end its obsession with massive central databases. The NHS IT scheme has been a disastrous waste of money and the national programme should be abandoned."

So both parties wanted to shitcan this abomination, yet now they're both in power together... why, they going to take it forward! Did I miss some mass public uprising where people were demonstrating in the streets, demanding that the NHS should be allowed to lose our private medical records like HMRC loses our financial records? Did I miss some compelling statement of importance from the Labour Party that made the government change its mind?

I don't think I did.

So, for entirely hidden and opaque reasons, the New Politics has decided to carry on with an expensive, wasteful, pointless and unnecessary IT project. Oh, and the "announcement" thereof was rather handy as well:

it was "announced" by brief Written Answer, without debate, on the day of the statement made to the House on the Cumbrian shooting, so it didn't get picked up anywhere. A Jo Moore 9/11 situation writ large, but after weeks in power rather than New Labour's years in office by the time of Moore's disgrace. New government, old tricks. No change, and no shame.

The "civil liberties won" headline has gone out to the people, but the reality, the outcome of this policy is completely different. Just like "New" Labour with their endless announcements of "good things" that turned out to be poisonous.

The heir to Blair? I cannot think of a more fitting epithet for this slimy politician.*

Update: This. Fucking Jesus, here we FUCKING go again...

Update 2: Oh for the fucking sake of fucking fucking fuck.

*Apart from "cunt", obviously!

#Climategate - Should Al Gore lose his Oscar?

I think he should lose the Nobel as well, but a couple of members of "the Academy" want to rescind Al's Oscar:

Roger L. Simon and Lionel Chetwynd, both Academy members, are among a small, meandering pack of known political conservatives still believed to be on the loose in the liberal bastion of movie-making.

In 2007, the Academy sanctified Gore's cinematic message of global warming with its famous statue, enriched his earnings by $100,000 per 85-minute appearance and helped elevate the Tennessean's profile to win the Nobel Peace Prize despite losing the election battle of 2000 to a Texan and living in a large house with lots of energy-driven appliances.

Chetwynd and Simon were prompted to make their hopeless demand this week by the leak two weeks ago of a blizzard of British academic e-mails purporting to show that scientists at the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit systematically falsified data to document the appearance of global warming in recent years.

The university is reportedly investigating the claims, which added dry fuel to the never-ending political debate over whether the Earth really is warming as a result of human activity or if it's just normal natural cycles and the debate is what's heated. The demand to withdraw Gore's award provides yet another opportunity to argue.

Too bloody right. While they're about it, they should take away his fucking Nobel prize and stick his fucking thieving head on a pike, as well.

The cunt.

The Graun starts sucking Jacqui's clit

Cunts:

But one of Britain's leading constitutional experts, Vernon Bogdanor, professor of government at the University of Oxford, told the programme: "This does seem to me something of a storm in a teacup.

"The important principle is that MPs, apart from when they are speaking in the chamber and dealing with constituents' correspondence, are as subject to the law as the rest of us.

And what, pray fucking tell, do you think Mr Green's office was full of?

Vernon Bogdanor seems to be another useful idiot. Remember the name.

A cunt, earlier

Jack Straw outlines Labour's improvement of our civil liberties

No, really:

Does the sun rise in the east? Has Labour enhanced rights and liberties? The answer to the second question is as unambiguously a yes as to the first.

Oh, look, a flying pig!

Really, Mr McNulty?

Our betters are wittering on again:

Home Office Minister Tony McNulty and Justice Minister David Hanson issued a joint statement, in which they said the government's approach to law and order had both made communities safer and also offered support to victims of crime and witnesses.

"In addition, public confidence in the criminal justice system has increased significantly in recent years

Has it, fuck!

There are a couple of polls running here and here.

I don't know what they will look like at the time you read this, but as they stand right now, the first poll says that 100% of respondents believe the system has become worse, with 90% feeling that it's entirely unfit for pupose.

The second (bigger) poll has a whopping 81% saying that they think the odds of the correct outcome are 50% OR WORSE. The largest cohort (36%) have no faith in the criminal justice system at all. 99% of respondents feel that there is at least a 10% chance of the wrong outcome.

If you think that's a ringing endorsement, McNulty, you're fucking mad.

Cunt.

In other words: "fuck you".

From here:

The Government believes that EU Membership is firmly in Britain’s national interest, and remains committed to ensuring that the EU is focussed on adding value for its citizens.

Our membership of the EU has brought real benefits in jobs, peace and security. Through it, we belong to the world’s biggest trading bloc. Half the UK’s trade is now within the EU, with an estimated 3.5 million British jobs linked to it. Our membership allows us to live, work and travel across Europe and to receive free medical care if we fall sick on holiday. And each citizen benefits in ways that are harder to quantify in cash terms, such as a cleaner environment, trade deals negotiated by the EU, and better security.

There was a referendum on UK membership of the European Economic Community in June 1975, which was passed in favour of membership. Thereafter, each Treaty change has been approved by the democratically elected British Parliament. No government, Labour or Conservative, has ever held a referendum on an amending European treaty. Parliament remains the correct place for debate and decision on such treaties.

In other words:

"We know better than you do. We can't think of any real benefits to being in the EU, here are some fluffy words that sound nice. The only jobs that are protected are those of the Eurocrats. We promised you a referendum in our manifesto, but we aren't going to give it to you.

"Fuck you, who do you think you are anyway? You're just a voter and a taxpayer. Insignificant cunts."

Hockey stick shenanigans

From Bishop Hill:
There has been the most extraordinary series of postings at Climate Audit over the last week. As is usual at CA, there is a heavy mathematics burden for the casual reader, which, with a bit of research I think I can now just about follow. The story is a remarkable indictment of the corruption and cyncism that is rife among climate scientists, and I'm going to try to tell it in layman's language so that the average blog reader can understand it. As far as I know it's the first time the whole story has been set out in a single posting. It's a long tale - and the longest posting I think I've ever written and piecing it together from the individual CA postings has been a long, hard but fascinating struggle. You may want to get a long drink before starting, and those who suffer from heart disorders may wish to take their beta blockers first.
I strongly urge you to read the whole thing. If you are a True Believer in Man-Made Climate Change, this should give you pause. If everything is as clear-cut as the doom-sayers are making out, why all the shenanigans? If the science is so settled, why are they not adhering to proper scientific protocol?

Talentless nonentity seeks to displace morose monocular

The papers are depressingly full of it: the oleaginous David Millipede is "pointedly refusing to rule out a leadershit challenge." Whoop-de-fucking-do. Evidently he has a brother called Ed, who is also in the government. Ed is the lucky one, his face doesn't look like he's some kind of spaz. David, on the other hand is famous only for having a face that looks like a Mr Bean mask, halfway through putting it on.

Anyway, David is apparently our foreign secretary or something. Wow. Just look at how important Britain is to the rest of the world, and you'll immediately discern what a super job this fuckwad is doing for us. And he wants to run the country?

Well, of course he does! The talentless little know-nothing has never had a real job in his entire life (he's been a policy wonk and then straight into government) but of course, he thinks he's got what it takes to run the country. Or does he even care?

Is he just going for the gold-plated pension while he sees the overt Labour political project completely buried, and replaced by a covert Labour project of Quangoes, Commissions, Charities, Think-tanks, Progressive Organisations and other septic tanks of high-quality thinking. We're going to be surrounded by a burgeoning swell of unelected busybodies telling us all how to live every fucking aspect of our lives, even more than we already do right now.

And "Call Me Dave" is going to be as much use as tits on a bull for sorting this out. If you put Dave and the Millipede into a dark room and tried to tell them apart by their morals, inclinations and experience, I bet you fucking couldn't.

Dave, Dave or Gorgon. We're fucked, good and proper. But it's OK, we've only got to pay for it.

Update: Trixy is fucked in the head. But sadly for her, that's all.

Bullshit Detection for Kids, Part 1

I was skimming through this article in El Reg, when I saw this:

“The new offence of causing death by careless driving recognises the enormous level of harm caused by the offence. This has been welcomed by those representing the families and friends of victims."
The minute I see this kind of emotional blackmail, I know I'm being bullshitted. Be warned, children!

Really, we have more than sufficient laws to cover this kind of thing already. Can these cunts not just enforce the laws we already have?
